PAUT

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is not a new concept, the technology has been available for many years and is widely used in the medical field. Portable equipment became available in the late 1990s and is steadily replacing radiography as THE primary inspection method.

This technique is used for the detection of manufacturing defects in new construction welds, and for the detection of in-service defects.
The technique may also be used for corrosion mapping and is an excellent tool for inspecting complex geometry’s such as castings and wrought products.

ToFD

Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) was developed for the UK oil & Gas industry in the 1970s.

This technique is used for the detection of manufacturing defects in new construction welds, and for the detection of in-service defects.
The technique may also be used for corrosion mapping.

ToFD is a rapid scanning tool that gives accurate defect length, depth and through wall extent.

LRUT

Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) uses low frequency ultrasound, directed along the length of the pipe. Up to 300 metres can be inspected from a single location, no need to remove lagging or paint.

This technique is used for baseline inspections of recently installed piping systems and for the detection of corrosion and/or errosion of older piping systems.

LRUT is a rapid scanning tool that locates defects for follow using manual UT.

This technique is: Highly portable; Safe; Fast; Accurate.

Corrosion Mapping

Corrosion Mapping uses either conventional UT, PAUT or ToFD to check storage tanks, vessels and piping systems for corrosion and/or errosion.

Motorised scanners mean that there is no need for expensive scaffolding or working from ladders.

Large areas can be inspected in short time periods.
